Thinking there might be something wrong with the sensor. Thinking also of sending it to Epson so they can take a look.

When I shoot the camera in the AE mode in really sunny instances or up into a bright blue sky I have started noticing that I get this horrible washed out look, or if as the picture was extremely overexposed. Has anyone had this problem? Exposure compensation doesn't work. The problem is only in AE mode not manual and it was never like this - just a few months ago when the camera took a soft tumble on the carpeted interior of my car.

I have had the camera for about 2 years, and it never gave me a problem. This can be something really simple I am over looking.

Have you checked the light meter sensor for dust?

If you remove the lens you can see the sensor sitting at the top of chamber. Make sure it's clean.

[edit]Oops, you said the meter works fine in manual mode.

hmm that's odd, sounds like maybe a mechanical or electrical issue, i thought at first maybe lens fogging but if it changes on manual mode then there's probably something wrong with the internals themselves
