Top Ten or Top Twelve?

In case you hadn't noticed, the Your Top Ten Photos thread (which is now sticky - thanks) is doing really well.

After a slow start, we are now up to a whopping 16 Top Ten galleries, from some of the most respected and talented members of RFF (and from some wannabees too).

It has now, unfortunately, become apparent that we are facing a serious problem: the initial idea was to choose one's Top Ten images. Then raid pointed out that it might as well be 12 since they fit just as well into 3 rows as do 10. Better, in fact.

Now people have links (in their signatures) to their Top Ten, which actually contain 12 images! 😱 However, "Top Ten" sounds better than "Top Twelve" (for reasons we need not delve into here). What to do?

Don't fret the discrepancy. Top 10 sounds best, and 12 fit the best. Let it be so.

Erik, each person is encouraged to distill their RFF photo posts down to 12 of their best/favourite and create a separate gallery for them called My Top Ten. Hopefully this will encourage more folks to peruse the galleries as they'll be rewarded with more wheat and less chaff. When you come across a photographer who's top 10 gallery you lke, you can then explore their other photo posts.

If Stephen, the head bartender, thinks this is a good idea, hopefully we'll get a special gallery section at RFF just for these top 10 galleries.

So, you and ywenz yould suggest doing ..... NOTHING ? 😱

(as it happens, that would have been my solution - doing absolutely nothing is often the best course of action. The question was only there to catch some more unsuspecting victims. Hehehe...)

Such concise clarity. *sigh*

Erik, have a look at the original thread (highlighted and linked in the first post of this thread) and at the galleries listed therein. It's really quite an eye opener!

I can understand that for some people with lots of good images, choosing only 12 is a bit agonising. If your shots are *all* equally good, and you have no favourites at all, just pick some (12) at random.

I dunno. It might encourage people to look at some really good photos... more traffic, you see 🙁

I suggest a separate gallery section to ease access. As it stands now, you can access only a single photographer's top 10 gallery by following the link in their signature, and so far only a relatively few photogs have done this. Or by happening on the thread where you (Colin) have provided those links.

I've even provided a link to the links. 🙂

Hmmm... I've tried to set this up but seem to have done something drastically wrong. I've not uploaded anything to the gallery here before, so made the mistake (I think) of trying to upload 10 of the 12 images all in one go, without realising the 5-image-per-day upload limit. That seems to have resulted in me occupying some space on a server, somewhere, with 5 images queued in some invisible, well, queue where they can't be seen but prevent me from uploading any further images.

Does that make sense? Is there some way out of this hole?

Oh, BTW, you can see I (a) like the idea and (b) went with 12 rather than 10. Or, it seems, either 5 or none 🙁

Mike, hopefully in 24 hours the queue will disappear.
Frank, that's kind've what I was hoping - but its been well over 24 hrs. Perhaps the magical step back in time has something to do with this 😕 I guess I'll wait some more.
