Canada Toronto Area RFF Meeting: November

I posted the digi pix (the two that I shot of the table) in the "Camera and Coffee" thread :)

Nice meeting those that I hadn't met before and good to see the familiar faces again :)
Hope we do this again soon :D

Cheers
Dave

Cool Argus collection sort of an evolutionary set.... I was liking it a lot!

I'm with Jan on this one :)

Those Argus cameras were uber chic - in a totally retro sort of way :D

Cheers

Great day! I was able to combine my 2 passions: photography and a motorcycle ride. Very good to meet you all!

Nice meeting you Eduard,

The photos you took with the Zenit are really nice especially the ones taken from the CN tower.

Bill

Thanks Bill, nice to meet you too. BTW, this ferri to island airport shot taken against the sun, on kodak profoto film that you're going to try. No color alteration in photoshop. "construction" taken under slightly better light condition.

Thanks everyone, that was very interesting to see real faces.

Eduard.

Great meet, even if I was the only one without a rangefinder! It was really nice to put faces to names, and fondle a very interesting and diverse range of RF gear. Frank: your prints were awesome.

Hopefully, I'll be sporting a RF at the next Toronto RFF meetup.

Regards,

Well... us Canucks do have a reputation for being polite as heck, eh! ;)
"No rangefinder? Well, we'll let him stay anyway!" . :)

And this was one of the friendliest bunch of people I've ever met, photographers or otherwise.

even frank..;)?

Hey, Joe. I can't help that I'm painfully shy. Sometimes people mistake that for unfriendliness. :)

Thank you, SalmanA.

Hey everyone ... what an absolutely stellar day we had! Yes, this was one of the nicest groups of folks to gather in my memory. The weather was perfect, and I loved being outside. My attention kept being pulled from the table in front of me, to the cameras hanging from necks and shoulders, to people-watching in the plaza, to the dog jumping for a chew toy repeatedly thrown by its master.

As Dave noted, there were lots of folks who came over to admire the cameras, one gentleman even wrote down the URL for RFF on his hand.

Aside from meeting some community members face-to-face, this was my first opportunity to meet with GeneW. We had chatted about the possibility for quite some time, starting when Gene and I were both on the OM list. Well, we finally made it happen! But with the crowd of people, we decided I need to make another trip up so just the two of us can knock around and get to know each other.

Being all my shots are film and I am not exactly fast on processing turnaround, I'll post whenever I get stuff processed and GIMPed or PSed.

One other item ... I couldn't very well go by Trius face-to-face, eh, so I had to "reveal" my true identity. When I joined here at RFF, the forum was somewhat unkown to me. I decided to stay quite private because of the fear of posts going OT and potential unpleasantness. Of course, I needn't have been worried, but after awhile it became just a bit of fun to keep up the intrigue ... except for Gene, of course, who knew me from before.

Anyway, I'm outted now! I go under my own name on APUG and the OM list (not currently subscribed) and as canoeman on DPREVIEW, though I seldom visit there.

Glad to have met all of you, although I still got some of your names mixed up. Of course I wouldn't have mixed up Many Leicas Dave with anyone else.

Sorry that I had to leave early as I had an evening gathering to go to last night.

I was also my first visit to the Distillery District. So my tanks to whoever suggested that as our meeting place.

Take care.

Here's some snaps...Leica M4-2, Canon 50/1.4 and Serenar 85/2.0, Ilford Delta 3200 (!!??), ND8X (3 stops) filter. Who are these people? I forget ( )...please identify yourselves.

I'm the goofy looking guy in the last photo there Victor :)

Man.. looking at those pics makes me think the Canon lenses may be something to snag for the M's.. nice !!

Dave

Edit: Earl's seated in the first two and J.Ed is "Mr Argus" in the first one :)

Yup, that's me, the rebel ... no removable lens RFs, and a Leafs cap instead of the "official" headgear. Guess I'll have to remedy that!

Earl

In the second photo, that's me standing directly behind the seated Trius.

I love that limited DOF look in the middle of a sunny afternoon, Victor!
