Mike, I develop my own film and scan with a Minolta 5400 scanner, using Vuescan, then work up the images in Photoshop. I apply a little USM (sharpening) to remove the slight softening images get when scanned.dadsm3 said:nevermind, found them. Great shots, Gene. Do you scan your own? My shots all seem pretty soft on my screen from a disc, although the prints are sharp. How do you post such sharp photos?

I think I saw you guys as I was coming out of the underground garage. I could not make the meeting as I had promissed to take my kids skating that day. But I ended up burning through two rolls of film that I hope to develop this week.GeneW said:Forgot to mention that after the event, when Dave, Peter and I walked over to the Winter Festival at City Hall

Doug, sorry we missed you. If the three you saw were wearing rangefinders and had the staggers and jags, it was probably us 😀lido said:I think I saw you guys as I was coming out of the underground garage. We wondered what had become of you, Bill. I guess you were focused on your Ryerson course and APUG Conference activities. Next time then!Uncle Bill said:Damn, I missed this one and I was free that Saturday afternoon🙁

Henry's Outlet has Minolta film scanners for $399. And, since my Epson printer decided to die, I just picked up an HP 7960 I've been really pleased with. The 7960 ranges from $120 to about $150 and the next model down (7760) is about $100.dadsm3 said:'m agonizing over a scanner....the Epson Stylus Photo RX700 all-in-one ($450cdn), or (choke) a Nikon Coolscan V ($769cdn) and a printer ($300?).
From what I hear, Minolta is out of the scanner and camera business but there is still a Canadian company (Zoomtron) that will handle warranty and repair.dadsm3 said:has Minolta ceased scanner production as well? Any issues with repair of their stuff in the future?
