nevermind, found them. Great shots, Gene. Do you scan your own? My shots all seem pretty soft on my screen from a disc, although the prints are sharp. How do you post such sharp photos?

Mike, I develop my own film and scan with a Minolta 5400 scanner, using Vuescan, then work up the images in Photoshop. I apply a little USM (sharpening) to remove the slight softening images get when scanned.

Gene, I'm going to have to look into a scanner....I just use Picasa to clean up my images a little...they seem to email OK, but when I save to a folder to post here, all edits seem to disappear other than the crop.
I'm back at school for some darkroom practice, then I may look at a scanner after taking a PS course.
Of course, then I'll have to learn to actually take pictures like you do.....well done.

I used Picasa once and the edits only show up in the program. If I saved the files else where the did not save the edited version.

Forgive the simple question, but if you expose a 1600 film at 1250, then push it when you develop it, what is the general effect?

Looking forward to next time Gene, I've got PS CS2 now so won't be needing your Elements, but thanks for your kind offer. Now I'm agonizing over a scanner....the Epson Stylus Photo RX700 all-in-one ($450cdn), or (choke) a Nikon Coolscan V ($769cdn) and a printer ($300?).
Since I'm entry level I'm leaning towards the Epson (or a similar Canon Pixma MP950, $500).....they seem to have great reviews and apparently the resolution of 35mm neg scans has improved dramatically....but more gimmicks mean more stuff that can screw up.

Henry's Outlet has Minolta film scanners for $399. And, since my Epson printer decided to die, I just picked up an HP 7960 I've been really pleased with. The 7960 ranges from $120 to about $150 and the next model down (7760) is about $100.

From what I hear, Minolta is out of the scanner and camera business but there is still a Canadian company (Zoomtron) that will handle warranty and repair.
