Peter: "So let it be written, so let it be done!" (Yul Brenner, as Pharaoh)
Bought both, they're delivering to the Ancaster outlet for me. There only have one scanner left...... $399cdn for the Minolta, $120 for the printer.
Thanks for the advice, I'm pretty sure this is the right way to go...never really wanted the all-in-one.

Wow, Mike, that was quick. I think you'll find the Minolta scanner will do what you need. The only thing I miss from my dearly departed Nikon scanner is the film strip feeder. And the HP (with the grayscale cart) does a great job on black and white prints ... you have to wait for the drydown though.

Enjoy,
Peter

It was the perfect solution, on budget and once I saw the job the printer does w/ b&w I couldn't resist....and I've seen the quality that you and the other GTA members post.
Now I just have to learn how to photograph as opposed to taking snapshots, but that'll come with time (I hope).
I got a few decent shots at Nathan Phillips when we were there....I'll post once I get my new toys.

I got my printer after reading Mike Johnston's rave review on Luminous Landscape. I'd been pleased with the Epson ... but HP really got it right with the 7960. It also replaces my card reader for digital and I love the contact sheet it'll print from a memory card.
