I can get the ball rolling - but we usually don't have it just as a "leica" meet up. I know that some folks want to do one of two things:
1) get together and meet and chat and share stories over a beer or some food - while having their cameras in tow
2) go out and shoot.

I've said it before that I'm not much for the "group" shoot dynamic - there's something unnerving about a bunch of folks (10-20) wandering the street shooting the same things/people.
BUT
maybe what we can do is "split up" into smaller groups - for those wanting to do this - maybe after lunch?

I usually like the beer/food/chat and compare stories thing. Maybe we can bring a print or two to "show and tell"?

Cheers,
Dave

p.s. Every RFF meet up I've been to here has never had a situation where people leave the bill short. If anything, I've seen a lot of separate cheques/checks that way no one pays for anything they "don't" want and people are responsible for what they eat/drink.

I really like these ideas! Bring prints, drink pints, eat then shoot. Looks like I need to get that Leica m3 sooner than expected! Let's do this!

How does this coming weekend sound? Saturday, May 19, noonish, downtown, the Rivoli.
Can you make it? If there are 5 or 6 who can, let's do it.

If it's in June or July, I might actually be able to attend. Will be visiting family around then.

As far as Leica dealers go in Toronto, the best one (IMO) was Gallery Cameras on Yonge St. Keith, Chris and John were great, and the store's closing several years ago left a gigantic void in the Toronto camera community. I miss them greatly, and I still have the M6 Gallery Cameras sweatshirt that Keith gave me about 13 years ago.

A meeting this weekend would not preclude more meetings in June, July, and August. I have a selfish reason for a quick meeting: Gene has a 50mm lens for my Hasselblad that Earl brought up this past weekend. So who can make it? :)

July 21 anyone?
I'm away till June 16.
Earl's party is on the 23rd.
Jack's not around till July 4.

Perhaps the 21st may be good?

Cheers,
Dave
a. July 21 looks clear for me.
b. DCS is definitely invited to DA PAR-TAY ... COME. ON. DOWN!!!

I just wanted to give another positive endorsement to Jeff @ PhotoCreative

http://www.photocreative.com/

I purchased a used 50Lux ASPH. from his eBay store, then picked up/paid in person.
I also recently purchased a 35Lux FLE new from him.

Now that Eight Elm is gone, I consider PhotoCreative to be my Leica dealer.

Hope this helps.

Andy

I spoke with my social convener and I'm not good for this Saturday. :(

But if I write a date on the calendar ahead of time, I'll be good.

The Leica folks who left the tab WERE NOT from "rff". Have not been on internet for a few days, going to many exhibitions, workshops and talks with Contact 2012.
Saturday at "Rivoli" Queen St near Spadina?,sounds good, nice to meet names and see faces.

Hello ... is the microphone on? Anyone here?

I take it from the silence that July 21 as a meet-up is not of interest. If it is, I can start a separate thread. I may come up even without a formal meet.

July 21st? Needs a new thread! I just had a look at this thread because I wondered why people were still discussing the idea of a Leica store in Toronto.
