I came to see it I could get pointers and this thread is fortuitously at the top so thought I'd post my question here. Great pictures, but don't know a lot of the places so would appreciate pointers. I'm heading to Toronto tomorrow (Sun Dec 11 ) and will be there on business the 12th and leaving 13th evening. Since I will likely have a bit of time on Mon evening ( maybe after a business dinner and hopefully I can skip the dinner and trudge off on my own ). I was wondering it anyone had pointers on where to go shoot in the evening. I'm staying harbor front downtown at the radisson and would like something in the vicinity if possible ( 2-4 mile walking radius ). Thanks for any tips.

Just wander around downtown. If you are able to skip the dinner and want to grab a bite on your own, there are lots of choices. Hair of the Dog (NE corner of Church & Wood) is a really good pub; my wife had a burger there she claims is the best she has ever had, anywhere, anytime.

Woodleica, there are westbound streetcars along Queens Quay (pronounced Key) across from your hotel which then turn north and go up Spadina (cash fare is exact change $3). For evening shooting, I would take one and go north to College then get off and walk south on Spadina to either Queen or King. You could walk eastbound on either of those two streets towards University Avenue, and then back down to your hotel. Or stay close to Spadina and backtrack on the streetcar. (From your hotel, you would be looking for the streetcars that say Spadina Station rather than Exhibition (the latter continue west to the Canadian National Exhibition grounds which are likely dismal and desolate this time of year.)

Another option, would be to walk north; once you go under the expressway, you will be about 3 blocks south of the aforementioned King Street. Yet another: take an eastbound streetcar to Union, and then transfer onto the subway (destination Finch), take it to Dundas. Lots of Christmas lights, and activity up till 9:30 or so on a Monday. Today the corner was dominated by rival Christian and Muslim proselytizers.

If you walk straight up Rees, it'll take you past Steam Whistle Brewery and the CN Tower. Cross a bridge and yer at Front and John Sts.. Keep walking north to King (not bad) but you want to hit Queen St. Lots of street scenes and always something to shoot, if that's your thing, or just watch life unfurl. If you're energetic, Chinatown is further n/w at Spadina and Dundas.

To return to the hotel from Chinatown, just grab a southbound Spadina streetcar (Union Station bound) and it will take you right to your doorstep.
