TOTALLY Off Topic, apart from what I need it for!
(In the same vein as the cheap image editing thread a while back)
I wanna sort out my website. I keep giving it a go every 6months, but this time I will give it a proper go. Anyways. Biggest problem is I'm on a mac.
I'm used to the layout of Dreamweaver and Frontpage. I prefer the GUI then editing html in a second tab.
Any idea's on freeware/shareware Mac OSX web design apps? I'd hate to go pirate with this...
Thanks!

You might try Quanta Gold by thekompany. I use the GPL version on Linux.

I'd have to agree that Dreamweaver is the best, but if you can't afford it...
Have you signed up for Googles Pages? Perhaps those web tools would suffice?

Go to : http://www.freemacware.com/ and look for NVu- it's a free Mac website app done through open source. Pretty decent, although it's interface won't be as pretty as DreamWeaver! What about using something like Blogger or Blogspot? They're free within limits and relatively easy to set up on a Mac.

As a web developer, I prefer to code in HTML, which gives me more efficient code compared to a WYSIWYG editor. That said, the use of Dreamweaver speeds up my work greatly due to the code highlighting and tag completion features. This is probably not the easiest solution for a neophyte.
Google Pages does look like a viable alternative, and you may want to look at Blogger for their web-based editor and pre-made templates (they host your site too!)

If it's an images website try looking into Expressions. It''s very customisable, it's based in London so the same time zone as you, and the two people who run it give great support.
It does cost. It's $3 a month, which I think is about £1.65.
They host my images site, the link is in my signature.

Ash, have a friend who used it before he turned to a PC and he was satisfied with it.
Justin makes a very good point. Albeit learning HTML from scratch might be a PITA in the first place, it allows you a clean code and total control over what you do.
Another possibility, if your website is mostly picture galleries, you might try the "gallery" function in Photoshop (in file menu...cannot recall the correct name).
For my site, I used exactly that, to have a basic "skeleton". Then I custom coded to fit "my design". And the software: Notepad.

Is the advice given in the current context, or that of 2006?
