Hello all.
I came across a Nicca, Tower type III last week, it looks pretty good,
but the shutter curtains are trash. I did put some film in and confirmed that there are holes everywhere. If I fix it, it will cost me $210 and I paid $150 for it, so maybe this one will sit on the shelf?
Has a nice Nikkor though.
Anyway, just looking for your thoughts.
Cheers

That’s a personal financial decision but the Niccas are fine little cameras.

$200 or so for your repair and you will have a camera that rivals any Barnack Leica. So my vote is a yes.

Get it repaired.
210 dollars amortized over ten years is 21 bucks a year...worth every penny for a well made camera that is a joy to use, with its fine and legendary 50 mil Nikkor lens.

Worth every penny to get it repaired. It will be tuned up too, so the speeds should be spot on. Nothing like a classic camera running on all cylinders.

You can look at it from the angle that a Tower type 3 camera is a far rarer camera in numbers made than a Leica III and very worthy of being fully restored.

You don't see many of these "in the wild."
To be able to shoot a cool camera I say yes.

Looks like I'll have to get it fixed.
Thanks for the input.
I have a IIIc, IIIF RD and a Canon IVsb. Why not use this one too.
