toy projector lense ?

My little Grandaughter has a Noddy projector , but the lense is rubbish .
it's about 35.mm across - I am prepared to cut through the plastic - put another glass in and stick it back together - any ideas about a scrap lense that might work ?

What size slides does it take?

My guess is an old film strip (half frame) projector lens would be better.
