Hello,

I'm not a serious seller but I just sold a relatively inexpensive item (<$100) to someone in Malaysia. I usually use usps priority because it is the cheapest and oftentimes print online (transaction was via paypal).

I just mailed an item thinking that deliver conformation/tracking was standardbut I found out that this is only free if you deal with your transactions online.

Well, I've dealt with this customer before and I do not think he is a scammer (we're flickr contacts), but I'm wondering if there is a way for us to track it still?

I have a receipt number, transaction number, and custom forms number. This is mostly for his assurance that I am not pulling a fast one because I'd like to inform him that it was sent.

As soon as the package leaves the US, the USPS loses track of it. It is passed off to country's post office system that it is going to. For most countries it is still tracked but all you ever get is confirmation that it was delivered. For many countries (Like Russia) there is no tracking at all.

It's not true about no tracking for parcels to Russia. I'm in Russia right now and can track parcel that was sending by USPS priority mail through russian post site (direct link to tracking page: http://www.russianpost.ru/rp/servise/ru/home/postuslug/trackingpo )

Hi, I am Indonesian, and I have bought items from the US and some European countries. Items from the US shipped using First Class is not trackable, but Priority Mail sometimes can be tracked by logging in to Indonesia Post's website, and go to the EMS tracking section. With Priority this is an intermittent case, but with Express Mail from the USPS, it is 90% trackable in the same website/same section.

Regarding our Malaysian friend, maybe he can go to http://www.pos.com.my/pos/homepage/homepg_track.aspx and choose Priority Express or other options from the drop down list.

Just sharing, hope this is useful.

I shipped a turntable to Canada.

Once it hit customs the USPS lost it. As in, they thought it never even existed. Strangely, two days before I got the letter the buyer contacted me and thanked me for the extra records.

I mean, is this 2012 or not?

When it leaves the US, it leaves the USPS tracking system (or at least for most countries I've shipped to).
