trade?

Negative!

As Maiku said, the versatility of the Fuji is the winner.

I looked at the rx1 today..its sooo Compact & Beautiful
Looked Lovely !!!
The only drawback to me was No VF... Yummy good fixed zeiss sonnar lens

i don't see why not since You have the xe1 , and have the option to change lenses ;)

yes!

in the end it wont matter...i fear i will never be truly satisfied with any one camera...and i might die at any time...falling planes, speeding trucks...heart attacks!

I guess if you're happy with the XE-1 it's not a problem to test the waters of the little full frame. I'd forgotten you had both Fujis. :)

Do the trade Joe. I think it's a good deal. You canalways recover your funds if you don't gel with the RX-1. Otherwise you'll be wondering "what if"

and flying ice-cream trucks!

In 12-months time, something else will pique your fancy, so go with the option that depreciates the least. Hmmm... tough call.

Oh boy!

If you could be happy with it then yes ... the numbers work and maybe you should go for it.

For me it's a huge no!!
The Ergonomics of the RX1 are indeed not good at all.
The body is just too damn small for the weight overall and bulk of the lens. In addition to the already mentioned lack of VF and , clunky sony Menu Interface.

It's like a mouse playing the tuba with that big lens on that tiny body.

I think in time you would be tired of the ergonomics even if it seemed novel and OK at first.
But, happiness is important. If owning one and getting to know it makes you happy even if you shrug it off later.. I say Go!

Someone here on RFF said once... it's later than you think. I think ... they were correct :)

Cheers

For me, no. personally sony has pretty yuck cameras. Menus especially are terrible. RX1 is more an engineering exercise than a photographers camera.

when in doubt...

all for a new toy...i like the fujis and i like the images they make...my skill won't jump up because i have the sony but then it won't drop either...right now the xp1 with the 35 lens is my daytime camera...in my bag taken along to work for lunch time shooting and that is pretty much all that kit does now. the x-e1 with the other 3 lenses is my shooting kit for when i go out with photography in mind...and the body would be a back up if anything happened to the x-e1.
the rx1 would be my day camera then...

From a numbers stand point, it looks about right.. Xp1 plus 800-900 would be better though, since I am assuming it is a used one we are talking about. If the rx1 is like new, then it looks good.

Personally, there was a time when I may have made the trade myself, but these days... No, if it was me... Right now I am pretty happy w/ what I have and the addition of the speedbooster to my Fuji stuff, makes my xp1 a non-tradable item. Once I get my 27 back from repair, then the xe1 and it aren't going anywhere as well..

U have always wanted this camera.. Since u had the xp1 up for sale at one time anyway, doesn't sound to me that u like it as much as the xe1. So go for it. Buy it before someone else makes the rx1 owner a better offer. I suspect u could be pretty close to break even on the camera if u decide u don't like it after the next 2-3 months.

the rx1 is about 4 months old and in pristine shape...my xp1 is in pristine shape as well, bought last oct.
i could lessen the cash needed by adding the 35 into the mix as well.

plus, if i stay working i'd likely get the xp2 or the xe2 when they arrive and be back to 2 fuji bodies.

You're your own boss, photography for fun,
you can bring any camera any where to shoot anything you want,
I'll dump all Fujis but X-E1 w one lens and get the RX1,
I'd like to have that, 24x36 (23.8x35.8) w 35mm SonyZeiss experience too, Now!

What's the catch? If you're getting the Sony for a £1,000 and the X-Pro then that suggests you're getting an as new price for the Fuji. If that is the case it's a good deal but, you do not get a EVF/OVF, lens hood, and you are stuck with a 35 mm lens (yes, you can crop in-camera to 50 mm but it is a crop) so you will need to be happy with the 35 mm lens.
Personally I wouldn't trade the X-Pro1 in for it, I'd rather have both, but its a big decision for you to make and only you can make your mind up as it's a big jump from interchangeable lenses to a fixed one.
Certainly you could trade the Sony in for a new X-Pro1/1s/2 if you decide the 35 mm is too restricting.
