Read with interest people's concerns about Asian travel with camera gear; no problem whatsoever in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand (travel mostly by bus)....but don't forget it can rain like heck over there and keep a large zip-loc handy!
Bandannas are handy as well, dust off lens, sweat off brow, emergency hat (tie knot in each corner, anti-UV but you look like a doofus!).
