As a fellow lover of tree photos (I often think of them as portraits), I like what you're doing with this project Jake. Keep at it, you have some very nice photos already, it's worth the effort and I hope your project successfully results in a good book.

Honestly, ive been hugely busy and haven't checked or updated the thread at all. I have been working hard trying to take photos that live up to my expectations for this book which are almost too high. Ive shot 16 rolls of 6x7 now and have about 5 or 6 shots that I think are good enough to go into the book.
I have recently been on holiday to Copenhagen and spent most of my time lurking in parks trying to find something unique that I can take home and say "I wont find that in the UK"
Heres some of these images shot in Copenhagen, you can judge if I succeeded in that goal:

I really love your shot Nokton! Wish i`d taken it!

Continuing on, heres my regular 6x7 shots I have been taking during my many trips to the woods:

As for the writing I have yet to write any long paragraphs for the book however I have decided the structure of the book and the categories I will look at:
Section 1: Welcoming Deities - Contains the paragraph of writing and consists of mostly full length shots emphasizing their presence and authoritative appearance
Section 2: Life givers (temporary name) - Looking at mostly close ups and the life that pops up around trees.
Section 3: Life goes on - Looking at the fact that trees outlive us and "see" more than we ever will. considering long exposure work, maybe some double exposures. Trying to convey that spiritual quality in that way
Section 4: Everything is a means to an end - Death and the afterlife, looking at natural death and decomposition as well as our use after death. They may have spiritual qualities but it doesnt make them immortal
Whats the opinion on the section ideas?
