Tri Elmar demise

Not sure if it's actually ruined but the front part of the lens body came off while on trip to Prague. The part holding the filter and lens hood worked lose and came off. Of course the little detent ball for the aperture ring is gone and the aperture no longer works. I love that lens! Who do you recommend to fix it here in the States? Thanks....

Sorry to hear about your lens. I noticed that the same part (Ithink) on my 28 Cron was coming loose. It is held in place by 3 recesed screws. I tightened them with a jewelers screwdriver and all was well until they started to come loose again. Seems that this maintainance is required every month or so.... I dont want to use any adhesive to hold the screws in in case the lens needs repair.

Thanks. I talked to Don at DAG and he said that it is common for the front of the TE to work loose due to the tiny Allen screws holding it on. Of course, having it come loose when overseas was a major bummer. I've sent it to him today and asked for a Allen wrench of the correct diameter (<0.5mm) so I can have it in the future. What probably happened was that I carried the camera/lens underneath my vest hanging from a LeicaGoodies strap and it no doubt rubbed on the vest material and came loose. Agin, poor timing for it to happen when it did and i wasn't happy about trying to keep it from falling off (which it did eventually anyway) by using a paper clip to try and reach the recessed screws to give them a little twist. Live and learn.......
