Tri State is no more

I was in Manhattan today and after visiting Adorama strolled over to 20th Street to see what was new at Tri State. Couldn't believe my eyes. The store was stripped to he original bare walls, only a decal on the front window reminded one that Tri State had been there. There was no signage that they had moved somewhere else. The area known as ladies mile, once the center of NY's department store district has enjoyed a rennaicence lately and rents have tripled over what they were ten years ago.

I guess they moved. Will check them out next time I am in Manhattan. They were at 20th Street for some time prior to which they were in the Wall St. district. Thanks Bill, as usual You da man.

Every time I ever went into that store for something that Adorama was out of, there was always a customer fighting with a salesman because they sold them a grey market item, trying to pass it off as having a new USA manufacturers warranty.

I never trusted that place. They are also listed as an authorized Epson printer repair dealer.

Sounds like they moved over to 8th and 27th so as to be closer to B&H @ 9th ad 34th. Certainly the 6th Ave. "Ladies Mile" rents have skyrocketed. But if they had "trade" in the ad biz like Adorama does on 18th they could've handled it.

I also remember them as being kind of "cheesy". Went in there for a printer "deal" once and smelled a lot of bait on the switch! 😡

Given their biz reputation, maybe they really need to move to Brooklyn and just go on-line? 😀
