Just wanted to note that I found the times on the Massive Dev Chart for Tri-X (well, Arista Premium) @ 1600 in Microphen excessive. They have the time at 16min; I thought this was a little high given that the time for box speed is 6min (and that is a time that has given me negatives with very good density), and it's only a two-stop push. Sure enough the 16min time I tried with a short 6-exposure test roll was overdeveloped; I see a couple of references and example pictures around the net of similar results.

I ended up using 12min on a few rolls, which may still be a touch high even. It gave a much better range of tones.

I've done Tri-X @ 1600 in D76/ID11 but Microphen is the developer I use and like the most; I'd like to get rid of D76/ID11 if I can, it doesn't store well and goes off/brown if you leave it in sunlight (?!) :O What a pain! Microphen seems to have given the pushed Tri-X (subjectively) better grain, too.

Some example shots, please don't pay too much attention to the pictures themselves, just test shots 🙂
