I put some in my online basket. The first mention of shipping costs came in the very last window: $115 to the UK.
I emptied my basket ...

Freestyle now have it at $76.49.
I'm still not convinced it's better than using the standard rolls. Of course if you live in the US and it's free postage
I never received any response to my e-mail so I guess sending stuff outside of the US is not a priority. I just checked their site and it still doesn't calculate shipping for international postage.
Freestyle's overpriced US shipping kills the deal....

Has anyone successfully placed an order? I tried to order, got an order confirmation, but the invoice order total was $0. Emailed their customer service and got zero response.
I placed an order and it was shipped via UPS - but they decided not to deliver it to my address and dumped it off somewhere else yesterday. Now it is been investigated by UPS - -geez..

If you are buying multiple items from their extensive selection shipping is quite reasonable.

When 100' does 18 rolls of 36, how is even 75 a good deal?
That's still over 4 dollars a roll (before shipping, cartridges, and a loader), and you get the increased likelihood of funky frame numbers and scratched film.
Assuming all your other materials were a sunk cost, you might get 25% off over using preloaded cartridges (about a buck a roll), but it's not like the old days when bulk saved you 50%.

A couple of reasons for me. 1 - I can roll any number of frames I want. 2 - It saves freezer space. 3 - A buck a roll savings adds up - 400ft saves $72 bucks (almost enough for another 100 FT).
But it is unfortunate that it costs so much more than it used to...

If I ordered 2 100ft rolls from Freestyle, it would have cost me almost $17 more than Unique or $14 more than B&H. Sure if you order 50 rolls, its only a buck or so more than free shipping, but I don't have freezer space!

If all you are after is a discounted bulk roll of Tri-X then shop elsewhere.
The owner of a store I once worked at would have called you a chiseler.
The rest of us need various photo and darkroom items.
It is convenient to purchase them together from one source.
If purchased along with other items Freestyle shipping rates are quite reasonable.
Freestyle continues to support film photographers with a reliable supply and extensive range of products.
It is for this reason I choose to continue to patronize Freestyle, even when shipping may cost a few dollars more.

Keep things calm, Chris, no need for name calling.
I figured most people participating in a thread titled "Tri-X bulk roll cheap..." would be interested in the total cost, not just a low price with high shipping. I assure you, I had no idea pointing out high shipping would gore your particular Ox.
Anyway, it's your money spend it how you like. If you prefer to pay more, by all means do so in good health!

It's what Australia has come to for some reason. There is still a base of film shooters out there but they must have deep pockets.
I have lots of film all bought at the right prices in my freezer and have a hankering to start shooting it before I get too old. If I didn't have that available I wouldn't be buying the stuff at current prices because I don't think it's worth it ... I'm fine with digital!

its funny. i started this thread to just let people know that there is a cheaper alternative to a bulk roll of tri-x than there had been over the last year or two, and it drifts into ...... really? well, I guess ill keep any more good buys to myself.
by the way, B&H three days after this post lowered their prices on ALL kodak bulk rolls. with posts like this thread, and people buying or at least positively recognizing the lower prices, prices could and even should come down. so lets stay on topic in threads like this. if you want to drift, please start another thread.

Into... what?!
Some said "thank you", some said "meh". So?

Back when I lived in NYC, there was B&H (my mecca), Adorama (for when B&H didn't have what I needed), and then a few photo stores uptown around 42nd street, which I avoided like the plague. For some reason, the OP's original link brings back memories.
The good thing, for me, is that link seems to have made B&H drop their price for Tri-X 100ft to something much more reasonable, so I bought a couple rolls from them.
Thanks for starting this thread J enea.
Best,
-Tim
