Trichromy - RGB color separation

Nikon FM2n, AI Nikkor 50mm f/1.8S, Kentmere Pan 400, developed in LegacyPro L110 at 1:31 for 5.5 minutes. Three individual black and white frames shot through Tiffen #25 Red, #58 Green, and #47 Blue filters, respectively, then combined using GIMP to create a trichrome color image.

Very nice! It would appear that Kentmere 400 is also a very good color film!!!🙂🙂🙂

My dad came of age in the Technicolor era and experimented with color photography in high school. He modified an old Kodak folder for two color (bi-chromy?) photos and then worked on his technique until he was drafted in early '42. Later in life, he had a collection of various Curtis and Devin one-shot cameras up to 5x7, but never shot with them.

Looking at the Trichrome images posted this week- amazing that this is from B&W film from a Nikon FM. Really is like a scene out of an older Technicolor Movie, or old National Geographic. "Modern" color from digital cameras and film looks exaggerated in contrast and saturation.

Thank you, @Sonnar Brian! The hikers moving along the trail left some interesting colors in this image.

It was slightly overcast during the red and green filtered frames of this trichrome, but the sun broke through just before the blue filtered frame. Instead of trying to recalculate the exposure to compensate, I just carried on to see what might come out. Looks kinda like... Lomochrome Purple?

I think these are " totally awesome". I want to give it a try.
@rfaspen, give it a... "tri". 😎

Jokes aside, here are the (52mm) filters I bought from B&H. All relatively inexpensive, but I see the green filter is special order item (Expected availability: 2-4 Weeks).

Agree. I’ve said it before
but why not say it again. These are amazing.

Well, I have a ton of various colored filters of various sizes in my "photo accessories stash". Good chance I have the filters. I definitely have the cameras. I even have a good reserve of BW film and developing chems. Now to find some time and see what software I might use. I have some image processing softwares from my remote sensing work (satellite imagery) that might work well. I think time is the limiting factor....so many cool things I want to do. Need to get back to doing cyanotypes too (Pt/Pd is just too spendy for chems now).
Thanks for the encouragement. Makes it more likely I'll find some time.
