Tried this MR9 adapter (PX-625 to silver oxide) from Thailand?

My CRIS MR-9 adaptor arrived today, coincidentally. It's very nicely made and finished and I dropped a (cheap) 386 battery into it and my M5 works like a charm. The metering exactly matches that of my M6, which is very accurate. The only flaw in the transaction was the $22 USPS charged to ship an item that was almost weightless and about the size of a Tums tablet. Right now, all I can say is "go to CRIS" if it's battery adaptors you need. Cheers...Tony

According to the description on eBay, this adapter makes no adjustment to the battery's voltage. It just makes the LR44/SR44 fit the space of the original mercury battery, with the voltage remaining at 1.5v.

I also have a CRIS adapter and I have been happy with it in my Minolta SR-T SLRs.

Thanks for these posts, folks. I've been using 1.35V zinc air hearing aid batteries in some of my old cameras, simply spaced/shimmed in place with a metal washer. That has worked ok but a proper voltage-reducing option would be welcome, so I appreciate the directions here.

I also used a CRIS MR-9 in my M5... and a Silver Oxide 386... never a problem... right on exposures.
 
Gus Lazzari actually recommended this item to me (the ebay one) when he was overhauling my MR-4 meter. I have the CRIS adapter too. Not only is this item half the price of the CRIS one, it is much better finished. It is gold plated for better electrical conductance, and it will never corrode. There is circuitry in there to reduce the voltage to 1.35V.

Functionally, it is identical to the CRIS one, but aesthetically it is really beautiful to look at. Also, it conforms to the original shape of the PX-13 battery much better than the CRIS adapter.

I have two of these now and one CRIS adapter serving in my Canon 7s, Canon FX, and Leica MR-4 meters.

Robert, which eBay one do you mean? The Nobbysparrow one does not adjust the voltage. Did you mean the one from pratedthai? I see it both on amazon and on eBay. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on it!
 
The pratedthai ones were the two that I bought. It takes about 2 weeks to arrive in the USA. I don't know anything about the nobbysparrow ones.
 
Don't do it! I bought the pratedthai adapters that were supposed to adjust voltage. They did not!!!

They took 4 weeks to arrive and I was excited to finally get some gear working right (Leica CL, light meter). I actually tried a few different brands of fresh new batteries (386 and A76) in the adapter. I first measured the voltage of the batteries (no adapter yet) with a high end meter. My batteries tested 1.5 to 1.6v. I then placed them in the adapter and measured voltages -- voltages tested 1.5 to 1.55v. Umm, no voltage adjustment. Luckily I wasn't out the same amount of $$ as I would have with CRIS adapters, but then again, I'd have working gear right now if I simply spent the money on quality adapters in the first place.

Again, don't waste your money.
 
Some equipment requires two 1.35v batteries. Can I use two adapters stacked together? I'm trying to get a Sekonic L-228 going and it used two 625/PX13 cells.

I wonder if the quality control is more consistent/better when you buy the adapter from CRIS.

I just tested a Duracell 76S silver oxide battery, with and without the adapter. It is rated on the card at 1.5v and is recommended as a replacement for MS76, EPX76, and SR44 batteries.

The 76S measured 1.55v on my meter. When I measured it in the CRIS adapter, I got 1.35v.

Too late! I pulled the trigger. Well, Robert Lai had good luck with it, so we will see.

The CRIS is actually the very same item, is it? They want almost $37.00. I found the website.
