I've been trying to update the firmware of my XPro1 from v.2.03 to v.2.05 ( I missed v.2.04 ) but keep getting the message "New Firmware Not Be Found - Turn Off Camera" which the website tells me comes up when the card doesn't contain the firmware.

Trouble is I'm putting the upgrade file onto the cards root directory just as I've done before. In my case Removable Disc (L:) - not into a file, I've formatted the card in camera so there are no files.

Anyone had similar issues or knows what I'm doing wrong?

I've never had that problem, the only thing I can suggest is maybe the file did not copy across properly, try formatting the card again and re-copy the file.
If that still doesn't work try downloading it again.

format the sd card in the camera
dl the file off the net
make sure ALL other fuji updates are off your computer or in a separate file somewhere
load the update to the sd card

I had the exact same experience, Simon. Through repeated downloads, reformats, everything, still no luck. I finally decided to just wait for the July update and do battle then.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, none of it has made a difference. Really odd, as I've never had an issue before.

I've tried various cards, all with the same result.

I'm beginning to wonder if I may have to do the same...before I do something really dumb like hurl the X-Pro across the room. :bang:

Joes point on making sure you have removed all other versions from your computer first is a valid one.
This was my issue with a past update. Since you are loading directly to a freshly formatted card maybe it's not yours. Check it anyway.
I'm not purchasing the 27 so I will wait until the July 25 update.
Hope it works out for you.

Cheers!

Is your downloaded firmware file exactly what it is supposed to be? Is your browser automatically compressing or attempting to uncompress (zip) the file and corrupting it?

OS X Safari will do this, so will many other Windows and Mac browsers. Your file should be exactly what the name should be, with the correct extension (for example, firmwarefile.dat )

Are you sure you know what a root directory is? Are you putting the firmware file inside a folder?

The non-corrupt firmware file must be on a blank, camera-formatted memory card which is inserted in the camera while the camera is turned off. Then turn on camera.

This is definitely user-error. If you have a kid who is ten years old or older, let the kid do it for you.

(Wait, you said you put the file on a "removable disk". You are not putting the memory card into a card reader rather than the camera, are you?)

I've no doubt its user-error and its a shame I don't have any children as this thread would never have been started:)

The file is named exactly as the file name on the Fuji website. It's downloaded onto my desktop as requested on the website. From there I'm putting a freshly (in-camera) formatted SD card into the SD slot (directly) on my computer (that's the removable disk I mentioned.) I copy the file from my desktop onto the Sd card (not into a file but onto the root directory) and from there I eject the SD card, remove and put into the camera...which is switched off. I hold the DISP/BACK button down as I switch the camera on and follow the instructions...only after pressing OK when it asks if I'm updating the firmware for 'Body' it immediately gives me the "New Firmware Not Be Found" message.

The only part I don't know is whether my browser (Google Chrome) is attempting any shannigans - how would I find out?

Thanks

USER ERROR!!! Definitely! :eek::eek::eek:

I went through everything one last time and it worked.

Having thought I'd deleted ALL my previous Fuji update files I found one lurking away. Removed and hey presto, we're in business.

Thank you all

Dogberryjr - might be worth you having another look, double check everything advised above.

No, the right file was going onto my SD card but having the old update file (v2.03) sitting in my downloads folder appears to have been causing an issue.

Why? I have no idea. Everything I did was the same every time I tried it, until I discovered that old file and removed it. Joe and Andy both seem aware of this as an issue, Joe's advice and Andy's backing of it made me go back and check my various drives and folders one last time.

Just did the update, had old files on the computer including right in the downloads folder and had no problem. ??
