Last week I got a letter from the men and women that protect and serve. Usually this is to warn people that there have been a lot of break-ins lately in the neighborhood. This time however it was a about a package they found at a courier company, with my name on it. They couldn't or wouldn't tell me what this courier did to warrant their attention, but at least they took the effort to get me my package.

I had no clue what it could be, but it turned out to be a box of film I ordered two years ago! Great to finally get it, but most of the color film has (just) expired by now. Maybe there is hope for my FED and Zorki that got lost in the mail around the same time after all! 😛

Anyone ever had a similar experience?

*Starts praying to Justitia and the God of Postal Services for his black Leica II to be delivered a year too late*

I hope your package didn't get hit by any thrown scissors 😉

Several years ago my sister had a UPS package, addressed to me and containing my Zeiss 21mm f2.8, stolen from her office 500 miles away while awaiting pickup by the UPS courier. It was definitely stolen and gone when the UPS guy arrived.

One month later, the opened and resealed box was delivered to me by the US Postal Service along with my mail. No stamps, no postal service markings, just the UPS shipping label. The local postmaster said all he knew was that it was shipped from another US Post Office location. So they just delivered it along with my mail.

I never had a clue how it got into the hands of the Post Office after being stolen.

I got a couple of filters on ebay a long time ago. They never came, never came and never came. The seller refunded me (this was a long time ago) and then months later I got half an empty padded envelope in a big clear plastic bag. My Postmaster said very occasionally things like this came through- she didn;t think it was worth the effort when a postcard saying "sorry we f'd up" would suffice.

Never had anything like this to happen to me. Did have someone steal my cc# when I made an order from Freestyle. It was a new card & the 1st time using it. I got my order but a few days later my wife saw an order for a lamp for $38.00 shipped from Canada to Burbank Calif. Called the cc company & got a new card. Now I'm leery using my CC online.

I sold a 50 1.5 Summarit in the classified section here several years ago and shipped it to the UK.
After two weeks the lens had not arrived, I refunded the buyers money and wrote it off as a loss.
Fast forward two years. A strange package shows up on my doorstep from England with my lens inside.
Not sure where it had been all that time but I'm glad it made it back home.

Last year I got a really nice slightly used 42r Armani doublebreasted suit delivered to ne in the mail. Have no idea why, as I never ordered it. Fits me perfectly,

When I was a kid I had a pen-pal in England. He sent one letter to my correct address in Brighton 3186, but forgot to include the state, Victoria and the country, Australia. It reached me in five days. That's the Royal Mail of the 1970s.

...but a few days later my wife saw an order for a lamp for $38.00 shipped from Canada to Burbank Calif.

That lamp was no good anyway... the bulb kept burning out and the swich was not reliable. Never again - no Canadian lamsp for us, only Japanese or Chinese lamps in the future. We ended up throwing it away, but thanks for the kind thought. 😛

Amazing!!!

i never have problems with delivery to singapore, well almost never except for the occassional battery from china that never shipped. But this past month, i experienced 2 shipment which is delayed and yet to receive. one is a yashica t4 from germany and the other is a *sob* rolleicord va from usps.

very stressful.

I had a problem with a Bessa-R rangefinder bought from the Head Bar Tender right here.
Shipped it back across the Pacific, was fixed, and then somehow on the return journey it wasn't in the mail any more. HBT offered to replace it but I demurred and said 'let's wait and see'.
Some weeks later it came back from England. It had been clearly labelled 'Brisbane , Australia' but the folks at UPS somehow managed to get it to the opposite side of the globe from here before someone read the address correctly.
Must've got bumped in the long trip so I had to dive in and adjust it myself, anyway.
