I have gone through some threads on this site, but am quite lost.
Can you please point me to a site, guide/tutorial or specific thread where the basics of scanning is covered?
-Which equipment to buy/rent/use?
-Basic techniques?
-How do deal with large volume of ancient slides/negatives
-Tips etc

Thank you

This isn't really an answer to your question, but scanning lots of slides and negatives is incredibly time consuming, and it might be worth getting someone else to do it.

Scanners that are suitable for reasonable volume scanning (I'm assuming 35mm here) include the Epson V700/V750 or one of the Nikon Coolscans with a bulk scanning attachment (quite expensive). If you are scanning a lot it is unlikely to be economical to hire a scanner unless you really need very high quality scans.

If you use the "search" RFF engine with patience you will reach great stuff, including a link to a great tutorial on scanning I myself posted once. Try with double "n" and with single "n".

Cheers,
Ruben

I was about to ask you to make life easier for me simply by pointing to your own post, but I just realized you have 3600+ posts!!
So thanks, will try to look for it.
