Lenses 35/21 Gears 46/20
Around 2007 after getting of advanced digital P&S my obsession with photography has begun. IQ was suitable for small prints.
Shortly after it we purchased DSLR for reason to be able to take family pictures without hefty price tag for film, processing and printing.
And I breaked loose. I took 70K of frames in RAW within two years. Of everything. Added FF camera and acquired expensive lenses. The image quality is perfect (if light is good 😉.
But shortly after it I looked at film negatives and ventured with film as I never did before. Learned how to process it BW, C-41, ECN-2... Went through dozens of film cameras as well. And printing in darkroom.
Now, all of those pictures and gear, what to do? I went through common initial stage - image contests, trying to sell, thinking to be part time photog...
But to me it is just not worth it, because it is not photography time.
So, I haven't purchased any new gear for digital photography in years now.
I always let go to unused film gear and keeping it at low count numbers.
But I still like to take pictures. "To see how it looks like to be photographed", as per GW. Just not in thousands per month anymore and not of everything.
I'm taking mostly family pictures with our advanced digital equipment. And it brings satisfaction and sometime my wife likes it as well. 🙂 She will order to print few times per year and even shares some of it on FB.
I almost completely stopped sharing of digital images on forums, my blog and on Flickr. I'm not the one who is sharing family pictures often.
But now I have a funny feeling what I'm overflooding this forum with my film images. Where are few threads with my only pictures 😱
The idea of sharing only analog prints scans, not film scans is keep on growing on me... It is more appealing to me and I can't make as many prints as scans. 😀
How about you? Are you addicted with taking of pictures regularly? Do you keep them for "internal" use, sharing or sell it?
And If here is anyone who was taken from Flickr to Magnum I would like to hear from you as well!
Cheers, Ko.
