TTartisan 28mm f5.6

Will B&H honor such orders for lenses or will they just send us lenshoods?
The product description clearly stated it was a lens - not a lens hood. In fact, nothing will happen. B&H doesn't charge your card until they ship; It'll never ship.

If it seems "too good to be true", it usually is.

Surely this was an error on B&H's part. I haven't seen anything anywhere yet to suggest this lens comes in a black version. The TTartisan website and others only show the lens in chrome. For $300 smackeroos, unless it's a shocker, I'm in.

$300, the same price as I paid for my Vintage Nikkor 2.8cm F3.5 in LTM.
I'd like to see someone compare these two lenses.

The TTArtisans lens looks like it is a rotating design with an indexed cam. This is easier to make in M-Mount than LTM. The indexed Cam lenses have to register exactly in place or the focus will be off. That means a high-precision adapter and thread mount. I can understand why this lens was done in M-Mount. I'm very careful to use a Voigtlander adapter with my Nikkor 2.8cm F3.5, Nikkor 3.5cm F3.5 and Nikkor 3.5cm F2.5. The S-mount versions of the lenses do not have these problems.

As far as the $50 price, yeah, knew that had to be wrong. The shocker is how long it took them to notice. I bought their 50mm f1.2 for $98, a really good bargain. So I don’t know why a more modest specification lens should need to be priced 3X more. But I’m guessing the extra expense is in the precise machining needed for the rangefinder cam. With TTL viewing and focusing you have a way to confirm focus through the lens. Still think that lens is a killer deal, not so sure about this one.

I hope they will honor it (I missed the window) as IMHO it's the right thing to do, There are alternatives perhaps give a coupon out to those who ordered valued at 50% of the price difference (what it should be sold for vs advertised) on purchases for $25 more than the correct price (then cancel the order).

Who knows.

The Summaron is a double Gauss lens - an ancient solution for wide angles.
The Summaron looks like a Plasmat design to me. When I saw the maximum aperture of f/5.6, I immediately thought that Leica was making a mini large format lens, and the Leica literature does show what looks like a Plasmat. The Plasmat is a moderately wide angle design, while the Double Gauss is mostly used for normal or longer lenses.

I have a M8 and I'm very interested in this lens, the pictures for it look good and hey at $300.00 you can't go wrong. Did the say when they were
going to be available.

At the rate they are developing their technology in lens mfg, in the next 30 years people will be shooting with Chinese made lenses more than Japanese. High quality and at a fraction of the cost. Who could have thought this would happen??

In the next 30 years??? ... in 30 years I'll be 97 years old.

All the best,
Mike
