Two Beauties: Zeiss and Leitz

The new 21, 25, 28 and 35mm Biogons are all available in Leica M mount. I have the 28.

I have the 28mm/2.8 Rokkor lens, and I don't use it enough to justify buying another 28mm lens. A classic 35mm Biogon made new in Leica M mount sounds great, but I don't know whether the new Biogons are like the old Biogons. Maybe sharper ands with higher contrast?

Raid, Pat, You need to start drinking more coffee!

See the camera and coffee thread.

Then see about every Rangefinder used on RFF.

Raid: The Jupiter-12 is a Biogon copy and is available in LTM. They are cheap, but "spotty" quality control.

Brian: I used to be a coffee drinker but then switched to tea. This is my excuse. Do you eman that the Camera and Coffee thread is showing off all cameras used here in this forum? Wow. I will certainly go through it.

I will check out the J12. I assume you mean a 35mm lens.

It ran about $1100.

WOW! :bang: WOW! :bang:
Is the only difference in the color of the body or is there soemthing special about this particular body?

It was a 101 year anniversary model, it came in several colors. The parts manufactured in plastic on the T's were made in metal on this one and of course the Heliar lens, only available on this camera.

I need to do some testing and will get back with the photos. I guess, the key is "wide open" shots will show differences, if there.

I expect back a scanned roll tomorrow with the 50mm Sonnar and also 90mm Summicron. The 50mm Summicron shots are on another camera body with some frames left in the roll.

I got back the roll mentioned above, and I see a huge difference in clarity and sharpness. The Zeiss lens did well with B&W (an earlier test) but it did poorly here. The Summicron scans came out very sharp with beautiful colors.
