Hello,

I would like to post the pictures of two of my Contaxes, both of the "K" batch (dating from 1939) and both found in my region (Trentino): one more or less 8 years ago; the second, ca. 2 years ago.

They are resp. nr. K.56041 and K.60563 .

Of the first, I surely know that it was taken from a German soldier in 1945 and remained in the same family, until coming in my hands, the second was in a private property, no info on where it came from.

As clearly visible in the attached pictures, both have the same sinchro contact.

Even in Kuc's 1st volume of "Auf den Spuren der Contax", there are few details about this variation.

Besides the signs of wear, both are still perfectly working...

I hope that this little info could be of some interest.

Best wishes,

E.L.

Interesting! Someone on the forum will be better informed than me on this but they look consistent enough to be a factory or factory-sponsored modification. Nice pair.

Nice pair indeed. Don't think I've ever seen this before. Thank you for sharing.

I have a 1936 Contax II with a non-factory flash-sync pin sticking out on the front side. That camera is currently undergoing a service overhaul by my Contax/Kiev man.

Switzerland was neutral, during WW2.

Most probably, your camera belonged to a Swiss Citizen: no wonder that he could have sent his Contax to Zeiss and have it "updated" with the flash synchronization.

Elmar,

I have a late O. series Contax II with the same sync. It fires the flash but the sync appears to be set for FP bulbs like the Conax S. Have you tried flash on your cameras?
