I will be exhibiting photos and extended text captions of my Mississippi work in eastern Cuba in May and July. The theme of the exhibit is the similarity of the culture of the deep south of the US with that of Cuba. This exhibit, shown in two different galleries, is the mirror image of one I did at the Center for the Study of South Culture at the University of Mississippi two years ago. That exhibit was of Cuban photographs with a talk about the similarity of Cuban culture with that of the deep south.
I will be doing a talk at the opening but will utilize a translator as I would not ask Cubans to endure listening to my Spanglish.
Each of the 22 photos has a separate text panel with a 2 or 3 paragraph description (of course in Spanish) of the subject and the particular cultural aspect involved.
