Two reviews on Ektar 100 in Shutterbug

I've put a few rolls through a ZI 35/2 with some really wonderful results. Captures light in a seemingly magical way, and scans beautifully.

Yes, and Roger Hicks (RFF) and his wife, Frances, wrote one of them. I have used this film a lot, and it is the easiest color film ever. Thanks, Roger and Frances.

I'm still having trouble getting a good color balance when scanning...maybe I should try Nikon Scan and leave Vuescan for the B&W.

We probably need a sticky tutorial on scanning Ektar. I'm thinking of trying some; it's tempting even though I'm trying to exclusively shoot b&w.

I'm very happy with the colors I get from scanning with Minolta software but I must admit it's hard to match exactly to a print.
That's why i stopped having it printed!

I find that I have to post process every digitalized color image. But if I just have them printed from the negative everything is fine. I use 3 color correction softwares, plus many other tricks I have learned, and I am still not very good at it. I really don't do much color but I have found that the most important part (if I am digitalizing the neg) is AFTER the negative has been digitalized.

Part of my problem is, I'm color-poor, and I can't really tell orange from green and red from brown sometimes. Color photography in general gives me a real headache. But Ektar can look so good!

Amateur Photographer promised a review of Ektar ages ago and it would be great to see one of Geoffrey Crawley's full tests before Kodak stop making it! Mind you, they've barely mentioned the Bessa 67 either and I really get the feeling that they've abandoned "traditional" photography altogether - very sad.

I have been using Ektar 100 for a few months now and it is great.

That's interesting, because I think that Vuescan looks a lot better than Nikonscan for most films, at least on my Coolscan V. Just bought ten rolls of Ektar for an upcoming trip to NZ. Will have to play around with both software packages to see which works best. Even fiddling with film base settings doesn't work very well for me with Nikonscan
