I'm single, so Boston Market cooks my Thanksgiving turkey... I don't even have a toaster oven.

Tom,
How do you bulk load from a 400' roll of film ? Do you reroll to 100' lengths or stand in the dark and pull out and measure against something, a length of 36 exposures ?

I dont stand, but sit comfortably in my darkroom. An empty print box on the table in front of me with scissors, cassettes etc. I then simply pull out the film and attch it to the center spool and stretch my arms as far as they go - cut the other end and spool up. Sounds easy, but it also involves foul language (where did that damn scissor go, or OH S**t when the spool pops off and rolls under something). It takes anywhere from 60-90 minutes to load a full 400 ft load (about 75 rolls), but that keeps me going for 5-6 weeks.
It is possible to re-spool to 100 ft loads. A friend of mine does it, so he keeps 4 daylight loaders on hand for it (they are cheap at camera swaps).
I uswed to have a nice "stick" that was 5ft 6" long and used it as a template, but I kept knocking things over with it! One day soon. I will make my "loader stick" again. This time with a spool that can hold the 400 ft reel and a sharp cut off tool at 5ft 6". Just pull and attach, cut at the far end and roll up. Tis of course falls under the label "Things To Do" and as most such things, it ends up in the procrastinating file!

Just to say that I also called Kodak today and a man named Sean at 1-800-242-2424, ext. 19, confirmed that 100' rolls of TX, (cat. 106 7214) are still being produced, and available. Of course he also dropped a pessimistic comment, but whatever.

so maybe night vision goggles would be handy for bulk loading from these monster rolls. If it's good enough for dbi, then why not the other end ?
will have to reread your comments Tom about double xx vs tri x.
thanks for the chuckle,
