Type of flash with Retinas?

Can most any standard electronic flashes be used safely with the Retinas or is there a possibility of damage to the shutter contacts wiith repeated use?
I know for certain that a simple manual / autoflash flash unit will work but will I encounter a problem down the road.
I know some older units flashes have very high voltage outputs but many newer ones do not exceed 6-8 volts. I`m wondering if these would be safe to use.

Don't know which model Retina you're referring to, however, if it has a Compur shutter with X & M sync, most any flash should work.
Back in the 60's I used a Retina Reflex S with a Heiland/Honeywell 65A flash and never had any problems. Did quite a few weddings and a lot of other indoor work. 😎
