Lately, when typing a longer post the forum is sometime taking previously written material and is either overwriting what I am currently typing or changing a previously written sentence somewhere else in the message I am working on. This isn't any sort of spelling/grammer autocorrect as I have them all shut off and it is doing far more than just fixing spelling. I *think* this happens when the draft icon shows the green light in that it is saving what is written. It seems like the draft/storage function sometimes gets out of sync and is mixing a prior save with what is currently being written.
Anyone else seeing this?

Yes. But then it has been happening to me for some time.
I worked out how to deal with it (for me) and I now get around it by saving what I've written after every paragraph.
So this may not be a new occurrence. Rather a continuation (or a new version) of an old 'glitch' in the system.
I hope this makes sense to you. I am not the most 'technical' person I know.
Fortunately, we have an edit function to fix up our mistakes. This has saved my hide many times.

I haven't seen the issue with this forum. I have seen RFF running in Safari cause Safari to gag now and then.
When I'm going to write anything of any length, I open a window in a text editor and do my writing there with the capabilities of a spelling and grammar checker at my finger tips. Then I copy and paste the whole piece into the response window here, and click the Post reply button. So most of the various editing glitches in these forum apps don't exist for me...

Nowadays, I do a lot of that too, but in my case just to get around autocorrect.. The problem is even worse when you write in more than one language and autocorrect can't make up its mind whether it's the one or the other. Every tool seems to have its own implementation and turning it off often seems to last only a single session. When I'm going to write anything of any length, I open a window in a text editor and do my writing there with the capabilities of a spelling and grammar checker at my finger tips. I hear ya. Autocorrect is the Debbie.
I often use just a source code editor, but if it's something long and with substance, I use Pages (macOS...). With Pages, the settings are saved per document, so I just keep a document named "scratch sheet" with all my preferred settings pre-set-up on the desktop. Copy from that and I get simple ASCII text to paste.
You might be able to do a similar trick with whatever word processor you use on whatever platform.

I have been using Xenforo software for many years, but haven't seen that happen when it is saving drafts. I'll check on their site for similar reports.

Was there any recent forum software/add-on updates? There is a lot of paid AI development add-ons and hopefully one didn't sneak in by accident.

Next week Google is releasing Gemini 1.5 Pro PAYG, which can take large inputs - or what they call 'large context understanding' . Here's an example where they feed it the 3.js example code. That text file code input is just under 1M tokens ($7) to input. You can then ask it all sorts of...

No. No new installs and certainly not paid code — that expense would never be approved. 😀
Any such add on from an established developer wouldn’t affect core functionality in any case.

I will try that but pretty sure it is something with the draft saving function. I will see if I can reproduce it consistently. Thinking about it more I recently changed my router (Synology RT3600ax) and its location and every once in awhile safari thinks I've dropped the network. (Maybe switching between mesh points) I'm sort of halfway between the main router and a mesh point. Lots of signal from both. Maybe if it thinks it is dropped while I'm typing the software tries to resync and that is why I get some previously written material?I have been using Xenforo software for many years, but haven't seen that happen when it is saving drafts. That or confusion with multiple tabs?
I suppose a broken connection would explain things and why it doesn’t seem to be widespread
