I have a Canon P that I've had for a while and I can't find any information what so ever online about disassembly of the top. Basically today looking thru my viewfinder the vertical alighment of the images are either WAY appart or closer but still vertically misaligned and at times clearly out of sync as it'll focus infinity at something 15 feet away. Apparently it sounds like the rangefinder (superimposed mirror) itself has fallen off whatever its attached to and just makes a clicky sound if you lightly turn the camera forward and backward. I'm quite fustrated because I don't have the 80$ to pay for the 3 hours worth of work for a repair tech to do it.

*Sigh*

The problem is I don't think a calibration will work, if the semi-transparent mirror has fallen off the glued area and just kinda rattling on it's own in there. Otherwise I'd do the simple calibration method.

It's only the moving mirror that can come lose. (Well, I think even that is a prism, silvered on the long side, in the P. Using a prism makes it more durable against tarnishing.) The half-silvered mirror spot is between two large prisms that are cemented together. Very unlikely to go anywhere.

Sad to hear that the prism came out of it's mount, yeah about $80 is a good estimate for repair. It will be worth it when you gather the money, you sure can't get another P for $80...
