UGLY Bokeh

Or SOFA, if you will.

Ran into this on another photo site. Not from an RF lens (from a Carl Zeiss VS 80-200/4), it is still the worst example of bokeh I have seen ever (too bad because the photo was otherwise very nice).

Reminds me of my post last summer about "paranormal" orbs 😉

I made this pic.. this is UGLY!

Nice! I was just about to post another sample from canon's EF 50mm f/1.8, at 5.6. The pentagonal aperture hurts. 🙁

I took this many months ago when I first got my digital rebel, so, while I was still obsessed with the rule of thirds and before I re-discovered film. f/5.6, very close focus. The background was just a bunch of dry grass and sparse brambles.

Eh, deal with that flare and it's not that bad. I think what it has to offer is very overwhelmed by that upper flare though.

Indeed, the shot is very nice. I just can't get over the sawblades. They spoil it for me in a serious way.

some oof circles have a spot in the center or a series of rings, like tree trunks. i'm guessing that it's from internal reflections? i'm developing a taste for straight bright rings, though. en masse and in color, at least, it looks kinda glassy.

This shot is actually from a lens I really like - the CV 40/1.4 Nokton, but wide open with a cluttered and colourful background - not so good! Stop it down to 2.8, though, and things look much better.
