UK blues

No matter how many of their rights are curtailed, the British will never revolt. They will complain and shake their heads but they'll never do anything about it...
 
So say for one example, if you take a (video) camera to a peaceful protest, footy match, critical mass bike ride or any other crowd gathering where there are police present - If you use that camera and capture an image of a policeman you can be arrested? This is disturbing, and wide open to the possibility of abuse in a broad scope by the police.
 
IMO the high court and house of lords do as good a job as your courts at curbing the executive, I don’t see the contrast you do

Actually we are a constitutional monarchy so Uncle Gordon exercises power by royal prerogative, if it comes to Ha-ho lads it’s still Liz’s realm

The house of lords just sums up the joke that is democracy in the UK, The government of the day can give seats in the House of Lords who are sympathetic to their agenda so it offers little or no control of the government. Unlike the rest of europe we have an electoral system that gives majority governments with far less than half the votes. So unless some of the party in power rebel there is very little control over what can happen, The Liberal party has always suffered because of this in some cases getting around 30% of the vote but less than 5% of the seats minor parties like the greens dont even get a look in

The current government has lost over 400 bills to the House of Lords, and 12 to the Commons. That would suggest you are somewhat overstating your case
