Posted a film for d&p today and was shocked at the price. £2.70 for first class postage for a single film. This was more than the film cost. I thought £1.58 was expensive before the increase but this takes the biscuit.

With Kodak and Fuji increasing prices and then heavy postage costs it's getting harder and harder. I'd use a local lab but the one I like is a mail order one.

I'm based in Manchester so would welcome any local recommendations.

My understanding from this website http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/index.html is that it costs £2.70 for a single film or up to 15 films! If that's true, then I would do as they suggest and send multiple films. Many of the mail order processors also offer a discount for multiple films too.

I think there are quite a few RFF users near to you, so hopefully one will chime in with some advice about local processors. Failing that, it may be worth having a chat with Jem at The Real Camera Company.

If your using B&W film only I would suggest giving Ilford Labs a go - good quality, reasonable prices and free postage...

Develop your own? I've just started home-developing C-41 and it's really straightforward, certainly no more challenging than black and white, albeit in different ways.

Alternatively, I think The Darkroom in Cheltenham offer a freepost service.

I`m on the Fylde coast and get my C41 dev at Max Sp for £1.98.
I think the ones in Manc charge about a fiver.
