uk recommendation for lens CLA technician

I've been very pleased with Eddie Houston (The Lens Doctor) who cleaned fungus from some FD lenses that I thought were for the bin. I know he works on other lenses so you might give him a try.

I'd recommend Malcom Taylor, he CLA'd my Summitar and pointed out very subtle things like paint loss on inner barrel which could flare, and worn out lens locking flange, etc, and he has parts for them all! Plus the aperture ring on the Summitar is sort of difficult to get it to "feels" good, I've tried DIY, but left it to Malcom in the end 🙂

Another vote for Malcolm Taylor - not the cheapest, but one of the very best.

I've been sending bodies and lenses to Malcolm Taylor periodically for the last five years, I've never had less than fantastic work......and he's a wonderful mine of information on all things Leica. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Yes another recommendation for Malcolm Taylor. Probably the finest and most experienced in the UK. He'll work wonders with your lenses and camera bodies.

Malcolm Taylor for me too. He CLA'd my M2 and Summicron DR and Elmar. He ran the Leica repair facility in the days of Hove Camera Co and has 40 odd years experience as a Leica specialist technician. He has the equipment to re-coat lenses and can also machine some parts, I understand. What he doesn't know about Leica is probably not worth knowing.

If that Summitar is coated, I'd only send it to a Leica-specialist technician, as they have the skills to clean haze without removing the soft coating Leica used on older lenses.
