I wanted some film developed ASAP yesterday, thought I'd pop into Supasnaps and pay the extortionate amount of money they charge for 1 hour prints (£8.50). I asked if I could have just the negatives and they said yes - £2.85 for 24 hours or £3.65 for 1 hour (36 frames).

The XP2 negatives had a few finger prints on which came off nice and easily, there were no scratches or deposits, I'm very pleased and I think this is the cheapest processing I've used (normally use dlab7.com who charge £2.99, but you have to post it off and get it back in a week or so).

Anyone found anything cheaper than this?

(I'm not counting the mail-order specials from Truprint and their like, the negatives always end up getting fine scratches running lengthwise).

Thanks - I don't know where I got Supa Snaps from, just checked Yell and it is indeed a 'Snappy Snaps'.

£2.99? I think they just make up the price as they go along :)

Snappy Snaps prices vary between franchise branches. I like going to the one on Garrick Street in London, near the Long Acre. All the staff are keen photography hobbyists and they have a clientele comprising many professionals and amateurs.

I am using Snappy Snaps in Oxford - very friendly and proficient. I can also recommend the Snappy Snaps in Finchley Road (near the tube station) which I have used in the past and I was very happy. The guy who runs the Oxford branch told me that the Finchley Road shop is considered to be among the best in the franchise.

There's a chemist in my local shopping centre who charges me AUD$2 (US$1.50) to develop-only a 36-exposure roll of c-41. That's without cutting the negs (they charge extra for that!). Thats for the 10-minute service, too!

Is that the one on Cornmarket? I might be remembering the road wrong, though. Are there other Snappy Snaps branches in central Oxford?

I'll be staying in Oxford for the next 3 months and if would be nice to have a good 1 hour lab.

Clarence - Yes, the one in Cornmarket Street. The stuff is a friendly bunch of Slovaks, they know what they are doing. If you 're a student you 'll get a 10% discount - I am sure they will give you even more when they get to know you.

The kiosk in my local Waitrose will do negs only while you wait (if they are not busy) in about 15 minutes. Last time I had some done (it is at least a year since I shot any colour) it cost £2.99 per 36 frame roll.

Looks like I should go to oxford to get my films developed! Swindon prices are ridiculously high.

Same here in Windsor. £5 a roll for just cut & sleeve. There is a snappy snap branch here, but I don't think they develop film: it's a tiny branch.

At £5 a film, I save a lot of money shooting E6 and posting it to dlab7 !

For a quck turn round I use my local Morrisons for about a fiver for a roll of 24 with an hour tunround and are pretty good. Only since I got my Bessa have I re-joined the 35mm C41 club and am very happy to do so.

Generally I shoot E6 and B&W and do them my self. 120 C41 I do as well but cannot match the high street for 35mm speed or price..... yet?
