Wow, thanks for all the suggestions.

Price-wise the Minilux makes sense at about half the price of the Klasse W. The Contax T3 is surprisingly expensive, at least the available examples online. I could only find one Natura S online which came in a Japanese handbag and cost a small fortune.

I think I'll list down all the suggestions here and have a root around our local used camera stores.

I've got a nasty feeling that I'll end up with more than one!

The one thing to remember is that not all suggestions will suite you. The ones I mentioned suite me but there are some fantastic camera's out there that as a camera and picture taker are top drawer. But some users love them, some are indifferent to them and some hate them. It all comes down to taste, handling, settings accessability, shape, feel, sound, color, saturation levels. Well to be fair, lots and lots of things. I'm sure you will end up with more than one. That's normal. Lets get that straight right away! The main reason is that you want to see if something is better or gives you something different that another camera you have doesn't. I'm sure you'll end up like the rest of us. Buying, selling, exchanging. Constantly seeking that 'holy grail' until at some point you are satisfied with what you have. But be warned. You will always have one eye on the horizon looking for that 'special one'.

I'll second that. From time to time I wonder what I would do if I just had to own/use one camera and have never come up with the answer. Even thinking one of each make or type or outfit screws you up at times.

BTW, if we are going to f/3·5 in the quest for fast I'll add the Leica mini, which is really dirt cheap and nice (and C/W'd metering and an infinity lock). And for dirt cheap f/2·8 there's very early basic ones like the Olympus AF-1 which you find in charity shops these days.

Perhaps the answer is to list them all; find typical prices and work your way through the list starting with the cheapest...
