Ultrasonic Lens cleaner

Anyone know if these devices are safe for expensive optics like camera lenses. I was thinking about getting them for my glasses too...

Short answer- NO!!!

Longer: an ultrasonic cleaner works by putting an object in a fluid bath. Putting a Leica lens in a fluid bath will most likely ruin it and require full disassembly to dry out and clean. If you were simply doing isolated glass elements, there are better and safer ways to clean. So again, NO!!!!!
