Over the weekend, I get to try out the Ultron 35/1.7 that I got from GeneW (Thanks, Gene! :) )

I have recently leaning towards 35mm as my RF focal length of choice. This lens is a mean to that end.

It's SO nice to see the 35mm framelines came up on my M4-P. It's been dormant all this long because the only lens I have is an 50mm. Now I feel that I am using all the camera's worth :D

Now my headache starts because I have to decide to remain steadfast to my commitment of one camera, one lens... OR two lens. :bang:

Oh, I also like the quality of the adapter that came with the lens (Thanks again, Gene!).
 
Nice shots, Will. I recently acquired this lens, too (from photobizz). Your pix whet my appetite to use it, and now that it's stopped raining for awhile here in NorCal I'm looking forward to getting out soon and shooting w/ it.
 
Nice Will. It's my favorite 35 at the moment. Try it in the dark with highlights,
great OOF, very smooth and good for people.

Cool! That is the exact camera and lens I use Will. It makes for a GREAT single lensed camera. I won't say perfect, but pretty darn close!
 
The Ultron 35/1.7 is my favorite lens. It 's the one I use in my about 99% of my work. You should fall in love quickly.
 
Steve: The lens felt natural on the camera, I was afraid that it'll be bulkier. I do miss the colapsible feature of the other lens I got :)

Roland: I've seen your comment about this lens being a sleeper, that's after I pulled the trigger to buy this guy. We have more things in common now :D

Chris: It seems that all OM users are people with highly-refined taste ;)

Marc: Your photos are some of the selections that convinced me that this lens is worth getting :)

Well, I'm glad I managed to snap one up in the RFF classifieds, myself. Sent out the check this morning, now the wait begins....
 
Will -- The Ultron looks good and balances well on my Canon 7, and is not too bad on the Canon P or Bessa R either, bulk wise. Have you looked at Tuna's photos in the Gallery or on Flickr? Wonderful shots, IMO, and nearly all of them taken w/ the 35 Ultron. I'm thinking that the Ultron and either a smaller Canon 50 or an Elmar 50/3.5 would make a nice, two-lens travel combo.
 
I did the same move, got it from Isca (many thanks Gareth) last week and arrrived on Friday.She complements my Nikkor LTM lens on R2.

Ain't develop the films yet... Can´t wait to see what come up. Based on yours will first thing to do in the morning.
Oh and got a pic for the family album! ;-)

The Ultron does look good on the Canon's as well as the Bessa R2. :)

Having the lens at hand really increase my admiration for Cosina to take on the challenge to become a successful niche player. The lens feels like quality instrument.
 
Excellent lens and very nice photos. The only thing I don't like is the screw on lens hood, too short. I wonder if you all can suggest some alternatives. I searched the archives one night and couldn't get a clear answer. Thanks very much.

When I had the lens, I used a heavy2star vented hood on it and never noticed any vignetting wide open.

I have to say Will, I had an ultron on my r-d1 when I had that camera.... I didn't like it at all. I found the pics to be very characterless - strangely - as the ultron has a very good reputation. I much preferred the cv 35 2.5 pII I had. I never tried it on a film camera though.... maybe that was the problem. Your pics are as always great.

I think the flare (lower right) is because the hood is too short.

Gene: I've always wondered about vented hoods, what are the "vents" for?

Gavin: I know, some lenses lost their "character" when used on Digital, we all need a full-frame digital RF, don't we :) Thanks for the compliment.

I think vents allow you to see more of the frame (through the vent) when looking through the viewfinder. Otherwise, a solid hood would block the view.

It could also be the weight. It could be both; I'm not sure.
 
I picked a hood on ebay that was both vented AND flared for my Kiev. Great product. Best of both worlds.
 
30 minutes ago the postman brought it to me!
I think I will be very unusefull tomorrow at the office :)
