I had a 1936 uncoated Elmar, that worked very well with Scala film (B&W). However, shooting color film with it was a bit disconcerting because it had a tendency to cool colors. I don't know if it's because of the lack of coating or a weird reaction with light. In any case, it's a fine performer (with sometimes unexpected, artsy flare) and if the price is right, a very durable glass.
I sold mine because I like faster lenses better...
