I am not sure I am at the right sub-forum, but let's try. I am looking for information about camera that make good video that are capable of going under water - diving up to at least 10 meters.

The camera needs decent video quality @ Full HD and stabilization. Lens could be built-in, but should be at least f/2.8 on the wide side of the zoom.

For now the external housing is also in question, but directly water-resistant camera would be preferable (though I guess there are only low end P&S that can do that).

Price needs to be under 1k€ - I guess this is a major limitation.

So - what is out there to look at?

thanks

My suggestion for you would be a Go-Pro.
Waterproof to 200' (with proper prep)
Cheap and takes great video underwater. I have had one for the last 3years, and taken it on several dives up to 150', never any problems.
I use the Go-Pro with my G12 in an Ikelite housing. I also use a movie strobe, that brings light down to depth.
Colors loss happens quickly the deeper you go.
Price I think is about $300, less for used and not current model. I use the Go-Pro Hero HD.

The best place to go is: www.wetpixel.com

Thanks - just checking it out. Unfortunately it seems to confirm my expectations - there are a few P&S with rather slow lenses and poor IQ (for todays standards) and then there are bulky, heavy and expensive (though well done) housings for all type of cameras that are dedicated to diving.
