Unsubscribing from threads?

Other than waiting for a message to arrive and using the link, how does one unsubscribe from threads?

You can unsubscribe from a thread by Editing your own message, going near the bottom of the page, and there is a field for Thread Subscription. Select the Do Not Subscribe option.

I Did a Quick Reply on the above message, and added this via the EDIT reply. Now a box comes up with "Thread Subscription" and I have checked "Do Not Subscribe".
