It is a well known fact. Flying birds need a DSLR... 90AA

Very nice shot!

Tho I think you'll admit that this is the exception, rather than the rule for birding photographs.

That is to say, if you were picking a system with the express purpose of photographing birds. This would not be the first choice.

Actually I was preparing this shot for LUF. I was going to write DMR/105-280, 2x Apo-Extender. Then I checked EXIF:eek:

Having said that, I have quite a few excellent bird shots in flight with the TE 135/4.0. I might dig one or two up.

Jaap,

Since only 2 of the 4 birds in this shot are flying you are only half right...lol

Very nice shot! That's not easy to capture and you did a great job.

Visoflex!!!!

Visoflex!!!!

My Visoflex 3, 135mm Elmarit, and 280mm Telyt work very well with the M8. Wildlife is no problem!!!!

With a Rangefinder and Visoflex, you have the best of both worlds. I cannot get over how well this stuff is made compared to the SLR junk I used years ago!!!

I am not allowed to post my DMR/R9 shots with up to 800 mm on this forum :(. I'm not defending it - just showing doubters whan can be done, if you put your mind to it. Normally for wildlife my standard equipment is either Leica DSLR-long zoom or M8-Visoflex- Noflexar 400.
Anyway, I'm sick and tired of negative threads.....;)

Most wildlife shooting is done with long lenses. So, clearly, the M8 is not the right tool. You have shown that there are a very few situations where you can get a shot. So? Sorry, but this just is not compelling.

Everybody does it -so it must be right - not my kind of thing, dogmatic thinking.
I guess you neglected to read my post about my standard wildlife gear.....

jaapv that bird shot is amazing regardless of the camera it was shot with but maybe more so as people say the Leica's cannot be used for such things. Either way great shot.
