Updated RFF to the latest software

Also, if it helps, Firefox reports one fo the three following errors when I try to click on any of the smilies or formatting icons (font, add image, left margin, etc) in the post/reply editor:

vbphrase is not defined
vB_Editor is not defined
AJAX_Compatible is not defined

The problem with module error should be fixed now. Please try it again.

In a nutshell, certain usergroups did not have a home page. Now that one has been assigned to each user group, it should work.

Thanks

JT

Still no joy for me, Jorge. I deleted cookies, shut down & restarted the browser but am still getting the same error message.

OTOH, the smiles work fine for me... 🙂

Edit: I get dropped into a folder called tikketyboo when I am logged in, if that's any help.

William

None of the buttons from the message "editor" work. None at all. I did delete cookies, etc, and don't see the errors others reported, so that evidently has been fixed.

But the smileys (or anything in the editor) work at all, unless I type it in.

URLs not clickable?

URLs not clickable?

When I post to the gallery, the URLs in my signature aren't clickable. They appear as html instead of links. Anyone else having this problem since the upgrade? Otherwise, everything's fine.

May be a new firewall issue

May be a new firewall issue

Unless Jorge has done something in the last 4-5 hours, my laptop is now working fine on IE6 (i.e. post icons, fonts, justification, etc.) at home... my issues may be due to my company's firewall and the new software... never an issue before now. I will have to confirm tomorrow when I go back in and see if it no longer works.

Same for me.
I can't read RFF this way.
It's too time consuming to trawl though every forum.

Every time the site gets changed/updated there's a ton of crap to deal with.
I know Jorge is working hard on it but I'm tired of constantly being disappointed.

See ya'll in a week or so, if things are fixed.

Byebye.

Kind of unfair.
This is not a large, commercial site with support staff, etc. It's site born - and supported - by one guy who had the idea, guts and dedication to set up a site for a personal interest that ended up being a very informative and vibrant communitry that is now on its third year.

As such, there are certain support levels one accepts and assumes.
If you are not able to align those expectations with what you can get out of smaller site then yes you will be disappointed.

While I haven't gotten to that point, I can _really_ understand what RML is saying. Jorge, I don't mean anything ill by this, but why do you have such a fixation for fixing what isn't broken? Each time that SHTF around here it is because of an update that you have decided we needed. Now, you own this site. Period. You _can_ chose to do anything you wish to. But I do, really, wonder what little you have gained by what you have done thus far?

Could you, jorge, at least tell us _why_ this latest was inflicted upon us?

William

yeah... confirmed. My issues are all related to firewall... at work, no smilies, no text fomratting, no import images... my work firewall breaks or prohibits the posting interface.... but the same laptop works fine at home on cable modem.

Crap. Now I'll actually have to do work at work. 🙂 <--manually entered smiley.

btw, this wasn't an issue before the changeover.

Rich, maybe unfair but... I don't have these problems with other sites and forums I frequent. RFF is really the only one.

As far as not seeing any home page... I still don't see anything. Not at work, not at home. Too bad really. I like RFF. But summer is coming up. I have a lot of things planned, which would mean spending less time here anyway for a while. I guess my holiday starts today. I won't frequent RFF much anymore, at least for a few months. I guess I won't be back much after that either.

Feedback on the technical issues is good, and will help Jorge get things working.

But hey guys, if 24 hours of problems with access to this community/hobby site is causing you stress, you really need a holiday! 🙂

Not sure about everyone else, but since I cleared my cookies in IE, my access seems to be just about back to normal.

There's a pattern. There's 24 hours of problems on a pretty regular basis every time there's an upgrade. As William says upthread 'why fix something that doesn't need fixing'?

Once the site is working well again, and it's been customised to meet our needs why not leave it well-alone. Just because vBulletin offers an incremental upgrade doesn't mean we have to move to it, so long as the 'old' version meets our needs.

Don't leave! I really have enjoyed your comments and pictures over the few months I've been on this site. Things will calm down.

I'm not deliberately leaving. I just realise that absnece from RFF waters down my "relationship" I have with the site. And maybe it's all just as well. A break can rekindle the love, bring new insights, etc. And it'll give me more time to spend on other issues. I still have a ton of projects ( http://shardsofphotography5.blogspot.com/ ) to attend to. 🙂
