Faster RAW buffer and I'm there!

Agreed, in the meantime having to make do with the Canon G9.
As long as you keep ISO down it is quite capable.
Though the 35mm perspective is too limiting.
Still keeping a brace of S70s serviceable as backup.

A couple of cool features that might be worth it to some. From what I can see 10mp sensor, custom battery, a bit smaller. I think the 40mm lens will work on both old and new. There is an electronic level indicator and the video capture has improved.

Not sure about the faster RAW buffer, but internal memory is larger. Does the GX100 have a faster RAW buffer? I think they took a lot of electronics from there so that might give an indication.

Lets go digital report reduced raw write time of 3.8 seconds an improvement over present 11 seconds appx now and .....well read it all here!

Ricoh site mentions that you can take two RAW shots instantly. Write times for GX100 were about 4 seconds so it makes sense given that they're using the engine from that camera. Also seems that you can turn off NR in jpg mode although that's not clear.

There's also a new 28mm minifinder that's very similar to the Voigtlander mini (probably built by Cosina and rehoused). Some forum talk that it will be etched for the 40mm but I'll believe that when I see it...

Given that I don't own one I'll probably buy one (my parents use a GR-D and I'm addicted to that little camera). Will probably trade in my GR1V.

What I like is the 40mm converter which I can use on the GRD1, and the new firmware which will enable flash compensation on the GRD1. The new finder looks like it'll be more compact than the older one (same size as the big CV finders) which would be a good thing, except I already have the older one.

Also that a soft case has been added which can accommodate the GRD2 with the new finder attached.

This discussion on flickr mentions that GRD2 only has "CCD method" AF, not passive AF as on GRD1. Not sure about this.

I think the AF thing is correct - the camera has lost the sensors on the front which I believe are what were used for passive AF...

The GRD2 looks a lot better than the GRD, but will not necessarily have better IQ than the GR1. Film in the GR1 certainly runs rings around the GX100 especially in contrasty situations and indoors (e.g. with colour at 800 ).

I have a GX100 and a GR1 ( had a GRD ) - the GR1 remains the most used camera out and about. I don't think a GRD2 will change that despite all it's snazzy new features.

I find the motor noise on the GR1 intrusive, but yes I agree - for high ISO stuff it absolutely trounces a digital compact. I'm currently addicted to Neopan 1600 so the GR1 may stay, perhaps I'll trade a couple of other film bodies.
