I'm glad they updated it and actually listened to people's concerns about the original one.
The new model itself doesn't really make me want to go out and buy it, but the teleconverter is interesting... Carrying one GRD with the wide adapter for 21mm equivelant and another with the tele for 40 would be pretty versatile. It's got plenty of resolution to crop tighter, too.
Are those compact viewfinders actually good? How's the brightness compared to a good SLR or an M3? I would almost rather get one of the full size Voigtlanders so my eye could find it more easily as I picked the camera up.

i don't think it has a lamp to emit an af-assist beam, unless that's what that circular thing is...

It does have an AF assist light but like most ... you can turn it off
I guess we won't know until its release on how it performs

Don't worry if it's like the GX100 there wont be a bright white AF beam - it's bright green ;-)

and you can always turn autofocus off by running the camera in snap or infinity mode

As someone who just bought a GRD I must say im not disappointed. Great they came out with a new one, but it was such a incremental upgrade that I wont be loosing any sleep over it. That new LCD with more viewing angle, great, that is a flaw of the grd and its viewfinderless body. Better movie mode? Great, not something that I have used more then once but why not? If that mini finder is all it looks to be, with 28mm frame lines I will take one, the other finder is....well....huge on this camera. 8mp to 10mp is a minor step unless Ricoh has bent the rules of physics and seriously reduced noise I dont think we will see anything much in it. The 40mm attachment thing is quite interesting, I will have to see how things come out with it...and see how large it is...which it seems to be quite.
What I hope they fixed is that pathetically horrible USB door thing, I refuse to open it because im afraid it wont close anymore so today I went and got a USB SD card reader thingy for downloading images.
All in all, good show Ricoh, could have been better, but its a good product already and im quite pleased with my oldie.
Also I notice the GRD has a 1/1.8 inch sensor and the new one has a 1/1.75 inch sensor, I wonder if that means they had to tweek the lens a bit or maybe it doesn't mater.
