Upgrading CS3 ?

I use more and more LR3 (which I am going to upgrade to 4) and it seems me it has enough instruments to post process both B&W and color. In a few cases I go to CS3 for some special work. In these days Adobe offer me the last chance to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop (CS6) with a special price (less than 300 EUR). Later it will be no more possible and in case I'll desire to use some of the features of the last version I'll have to buy it at full price (more than 3 times this special offer for upgrading).
I'm not sure it is worthwhile because I am not uses to do "heavy" postprocessing. Any idea, suggestions?

I upgraded from CS3 to CS6 a few months ago. It made a huge difference to speed and ease of use for me (large format scans etc). CS6 will access all of your RAM (CS3 is stuck to about 4GB or so) and will leverage your NVIDIA graphics processor if you have one. You should download the free trial and see if it works for you. CS3 became almost unusable for me under Mac OS Lion.

I don't think CS6 is necessarily about 'heavy' post processing, just good post processing. So if it gives some options for doing more considered, finer and more delicate work on an image why not go for it? Lightroom is essentially for people who are in a hurry to get their photographs done and dusted and out of the way as quickly as possible.

Thanks for answer, I made the order for the upgrading the last day it was allowed and received the parcel today. Not yet installed. I'll do it in the next days, now I have one more PS book to buy and learn...🙂
