The CD that came with my M8 installed a version of Capture One. According to my computer, it's 4.1.3.20573.20557.
Do we get free upgrades to a newer version, and if so, how is that done?
What is the latest version, and is it greatly improved over what comes with the camera?

Yes- 4.8 is a vast improvement in the reduction of purple fringing. I believe you can get one upgrade - just try their website.

My M8 came with Capture-1 LE, which I disliked so much I quit using it. At someone's suggestion I upgraded to (I think it was) 3.7.x and went back to using C1. Then I upgraded to 4.8 and finally the latest 4.8.2. I also read that we get just one free upgrade but so far I've gotten 3.

When I understand the upgrade policy of phase one right, then you only did one major upgrade from 3 to 4. The others are minor upgrades and don't count.

Thanks for all the advice. The website is rather confusing, and didn't say anything about upgrades, but I just downloaded a "trial version" of the latest version and after correcting a few error messages, it seems to have worked just fine.
Next step is to try it out.

when you down loaded the latest version. It upgrades your program automatically and then your done. Enjoy

This probably isn't the right place to ask this, but I don't want to create a new topic just for such a small thing.
The only reason I'm going to use Capture One 4 is because I've read so much about the M8 not dealing very well with JPG images, and that the images would be much nicer if shot in 'raw' format. That's fine with me, so from now on that's how I'll probably do things.
So, once they're transferred to my computer, what I want to do for now, is simply convert all of them into 'jpg' format, and then work with them as I'm used to doing.
I know that's wasting a lot of the capability of Capture One, but I'll read the manual and start looking into that sometime in the future.
Anyway, what's the easiest way (or best way) to simply convert the whole lot of them into 'jpg'?
Simply put, if the M8 is not good at saving images in 'jpg', and I save them in the camera in the better format, I'd like to use a good program to convert them back into 'jpg' maintaining as much of the image quality as possible, and I'd like to do it to ALL the images at once, not one at a time.
